Our family is comprised of:
- Dad - Shane, a HR Manager at Royal Darwin hospital,
- Mum - Debbie, a Superannuation System Manager.
- Kaine - 13 year old son - loves basketball, rugby, AFL, Harry Potter.
- Raven - 13 year old daughter - loves calisthenics, dance, basketball
- Darius - 3 year old son - loves everything super hero
I decided to create a blog about our journey, because
a) Everyone seems to have a blog these days, I wanted a blog too, I wanted to learn about blogging, and now I had a topic to start my venture with.
b) I thought it would be a good way to share our adventures. I am hoping it will somehow make it more fun if we share.
c) By having a blog, I will be accountable, and more likely to keep up with the daily writing. I hope, I really hope I will keep at it every day!
d) I thought it would be a great tool for reminiscing once it was all over and back to reality.
Shane and I have been to America before 19 years ago, just before we moved in together, and have fond memories of our adventure. I had just turned 20 and Shane was 24. It was an adventure as a young adult couple. There has been quite a big gap, and now it will be an adventure as a family.
All our holidays in the last 13 years have been in Australia. Overseas adventures just seemed too extravagant, and the expense far outside our family budget. My son Kaine, has been begging for us to go to America to watch an NBA game since he started playing basket ball about 5 or 6 years ago. Recently we decided it was time to live a bit more, and have something exciting to look forward to, instead of just focusing on the daily grind.
So here we go! Come along for the ride if you like. Any tips or feedback will be gratefully received.
